the lost art of the unicorn- frederique morrel

29 Nov

and  so here we are: waitrose has their ad out, littlewoods has their tat out, and marks and sparks has joined in with their own shit x-version: it must be christmas soon.

lookingfornicethings has been travelling and apologises for the lack of recent posts. but what better way to shed your autumnal skin and get into the merry mood than with french artist duo frederique morrel’s tapestry-covered, wintery taxidermy-like pieces.

a fantasy wonderland of knitted and patchworked awesomeness at its gayest, most festive self. the artifacts are on show at london’s stephanie hoppen gallery until dec. 7. go on, get merry.

matthew day jackson – eat yourself

23 May

had a chance to go eat a piece of matthew day jackson at a party the other night. i also drank some white wine which hopefully has no bodily connection to the artist.

as part of his show in the london branch of hauser & wirth, the american artist was exhibiting two life-sized casts of himself manufactured in salty and sweet foodstuffs, the latter of which was offered to guests in a somewhat cannibalistic, maussian gifting act.

bon appetit

chandelier balloons- street party chic

21 Apr

if you have not fled london yet, you should be making plans to succomb to the hysteria surrounding “the wedding” in style.

so breathe in, pour yourself a g&t, get your sunday best on, and head to your nearest street party armed with lashings of faux royal enthusiasm, a picnic case full of cupcakes and these chandelier-printed balloons in blue, white and red from bouf.

then keep calm and party on.
